Bug: Forced interception

PostTue Oct 16, 2012 7:39 pm

If your player is in a suitable position to intercept a pass or a bomb throw, he is forced to do so.

If there are two or more players who can do it the game asks you to choose the player that will attempt the interception, but it does not ask IF you want to attempt it at all. If there is only one player who can do it, he will automatically attempt it.

This is against the rules. They say that a player MAY try to intercept a pass or a bomb throw, they do NOT say that the player MUST try to intercept them.

Why is this a big thing? Wouldn't you want to catch the ball when you can? Because in Dungeonbowl intercepting while in a Precarious position is dangerous. There's a 1 in 6 chance you will be lost for the rest of the match (can be rerolled, though). It is one of the most dangerous things you can do in the game. I would not try an interception in a precarious position if I could avoid it.

The current implementation changes the game balance by giving Bombardier teams a pretty effective weapon for getting rid of opposing players: toss bombs at them when they are in a precarious position. This is much more effective than having the bomb explode. You could even do the same with the ball but it would have to be a pretty special situation where that would be a sensible move. Would be very funny, though.
