The Death roller is now even more broken...not sure who's idea it was to limit other teams in the effort to reduce the effectiveness of the roller, but it was a Baaaad idea.

I'd support a bone head skill, a send off roll, anything... instead they nerf the other teams..

After having had an email that DB had new dungeon editor content I got excited and was planning to revisit the game and try out the new DLC for the editor and also try out the new colleges, but with this rediculous limit of only 2 STR5 players per team I'm glad I haven't.
 I guess I'll try DB again over a a year when we (hopefully) have all the colleges so it is easy to discern how all the rule changes has affected each college thus DB in general.

I have to draw the conclusion that selling DB with not all the colleges (or at least the majority of the colleges) has been a bad idea.
It might have been a good idea saleswise, but changing the rules without knowing how it affects each college seperatly
is imo bad for players in general.

I have to admit that I didn't mind all the rule changes (read: the testing of the rules) when I 1st bought the game, but it started to bother me when the rankings were reset not long after DB was released.
What I'm saying is that I like to know what I've bought, because right now, with all the rule changes to 'balance' the game I have no idea where I'm standing.
I was always of the opinion that if you had a couple of BGs (or 'true' werewolves) the DR would not have been a problem, but when you limit each team to only 2 STR5 players even I have to admit that the game is imbalanced ( which, if ya ask me, has nothing to do with the DR at all).

The death roller first appeared in the Blood bowl Companion and it was for BB 2nd edition. ;)

Oops, that should have said 2nd edition Dungeonbowl not Bloodbowl.

What if you could only use big guys (still definite as any ST5 player) from one race? So Jade could keep two trolls and a fanatic, but Bright and Light wouldn't be able to pile on with ogres/yeti/treeman in addition to the Deathroller. I suppose it would make Grey minotaurs even less popular, but that's the only real downside I see.

I think it could lead to some interesting team-making decisions, as well as making smaller players more prominent. Deathrollers would still be overly powerful players, but at least there would be SOME downside. This proposal would mean that "Trolls" as a tertiary race are even more useless than before (take away their Loner then, I say, so that one must choose between the fanatic or slightly smarter trolls), but "Minotaurs" would still be good-to-go.

I think this is a genius proposal that solves everything, but maybe that's just me. ;)

Gaixo : What if you could only use big guys (still definite as any ST5 player) from one race?

2 Big Guys (or STR 5) per team is fine but they have to change the 3rd race with something intelligent...
Why 2 Big guys per team ? simple because some team can't have more than 2.
The difference is ok for Blood Bowl, but not for DB where teams can mix race to avoid their weakness.

The fanatic can be an exception to the 5 STR rule... ? well maybe yes, maybe not.

The gobs are not alone anymore, they have the orcs with them (and I hope the snots). And at this time looner and fanatic don't suffer from the "secret weapon rule" (they must after, because of their cost). In other hand the format is hard for this Midi Mighty Gob.

Gaixo : Deathrollers would still be overly powerful players, but at least there would be SOME downside.

Fire the Death Roller and allow him to come back when you have find a sollution with the "secret weapon skill".
Cyanide you don't have yet the antidote, cut the leg before the desease reach the brain.

Mercenaries don't have to count toward the limitation. That means that if you have already 2 Trolls in your team, you can rent a 3rd (or Morg of course). It's already a disaventage to be the under dog. Cyanid will never add the last star players who miss the game....(or maybe for 10 € )...

:| Or another option would be instead of limiting every team to only 2 STR5 players to give those teams who only have access to 2 STR5 players more BGs or STR5+ secret weapons.
I personally do not consider the gob Fanatic a BG even when he has STR7. I mean 2 traits every BG has in common is that they suffer from Loner & Wild Animal, Really Stupid or other negative trait.

:?: So, now that you can't start with more than 2 STR5 players per team anymore, is it still possible to raise the STR of say your other 4 Chaos warriors in your Chaos team to 5? Or is that nerved too?
I mean what is the use of having a Minotaur and 4 Chaos Warriors all with their STR raised to 5 if you can only field 2 STR5 players per team?

Hi, the 2 / 5 str limit refers to Big Guys. If your regular player gets a +1 to str this rule will not apply to them. :)

Thanks for clarifying that Warfish....good to know.

But hopefully something is done to nerf the Deathroller itself in the future... that's such a key issue. Unfortunately, GW doesn't understand the magnitude of the problem...nor do they care it seems.

:| So you agree that just having STR5+ alone is not a prerequisite to be considered a BG?
I mean when is a character considered to be a Big Guy?

Imo what all 'true' Big Guys have in common is that:
A) they all have STR5+
B) suffer from Loner AND Wild Animal, Really Stupid or any other negative trait
C) have no normal access to General Skills (like Block )
Therefore I do not consider a gob Fanatic a BG since he only suffers from A & C, but does not suffer from Loner.
But hey that is just my opinion and I'm curious what you devs think?
:?: I mean what if an entirely new character is created who only starts with STR5 but does not suffer from Loner, isn't stupid or wild and has access to General Skills, is this character then automatically considered a Big Guy?
( :D granted this character would be op but that doesn't make him a BG)
