First feelings

I had the pleasure to test DB today in Cyanide's studio.
First : thanks to all cyanide staff who are all very nice and open to discussion.
About the game :
- The dungeon editor is... very good (awesome was the first word which came to me) and very handy (my 7 years old child was able to design a (weird) dongeon). It's possible to design in details huge (or tiny) dongeon (floors, walls, different kind of traps, decorations, flags, public, cheerleaders, teleports pads, various things, chest, etc).
- You can have more than 6 teleporter pads (but only one ball). Yours players can be lost in space (happened to me twice in a turn ! :D), or injured if they are teleported twice in a turn. You can teleport one player from the dug-out per turn.
- There is no overall limitation in positionnals. For instance, you could buy 4 human blitzers, 2 dwarves blitzers and 2 berzerkers. Cyanide seemed open to change this later if it's a game breaker. But, seeing the game, death and injury will happen so often that it could be difficult to sustain such rosters.
- Players can fall (or pushed) in traps or pits. Precarious positions works.
- Team editor is handy too.
- THERE WILL BE A SPECTATOR MODE !

I am now even more eager to play DB !

That is all i can think of. I had only 2 hours and 2 short games to see this game, so i may be not able to tell much more, but you can ask questions. I'm allowed to talk about all i saw in the game.

Hey Deletio! Thank you for your report for our english speakers members. As he said, don't hesitate to ask all your questions. :)

Cheers for that Deletio.

I'm really excited about this launch but a little concerned about the lack of positional restrictions. The fact that Cyanide will look at it again if it is a game breaker is a comfort but to be honest the TT games I played back in the day were pretty savage anyway.

Question: When you were testing the game, did you, by chance, see whether the newer races (E.g Khemri, Lizardmen, Amazons etc.) were represented in game?

For now, no.
BUT : Cyanide wants to add most of the races featured by the CRP (some of these could be hard to include, as the underworld which is a mixed team from the start) in the future - including Chaos Dwarves and such. Of course, the success of the game would help in that matter...

Glad there's a spectator mode :)

Will all the colleges of magic be in the game from the start, or are cyanide starting off with a reduced number and hoping to add more later?

Great post Deletio.

I was starting to despair after the earlier announcements but this brings me some hope.

Spectator mode sounds great, it would be awesome if you could speak to the other specs (though not the players) and discuss the game. Would really make leagues a lot better particularly for the big playoff finals and such.

It will begin with a reduced number (not sure how many). Depending on the success of DB, more will be added.

More info i forgot. Another tester, Tristelune posted about it in the french section, i'm merely translating what he said. My english is sometimes weak, so ask for more if the infos are weird or allusive
- magic sponge is included
- taking a teleport pad does not require 1 MV point
- walls angles allow diagonal MV and support (guard)
- no kick off event
- Match duration is limited : after 16 turns, no player can enter the dongeon, after 24 turns, 1 player per turn is teleported back in the dug out until both teams run out of player.
- Skills from BB are not modified at all, even those which are useless (kick off return for instance)
- If the ball is destroyed or lost in space, it is randomly teleported back in the dungeon
- Opening a chest cost 1 MV point but is not considered as an action
- When a player is teleported in the dungeon, he can move and / or declare any action still availlable (blitz, pass).
- Chain reaction works
- SPP reward works as in BB (TD, pass, CAS and MVP)
- Pushing a player in a pit works as a crowdpush in BB : the victim must have no other square to go in in order to fall
- No limitation in number of chest, pits and traps, endzone's size and such, but some rules are to be respected in you want your dongeon to become official and usable by others in MM.

I can add this : in a desperate defensive move, i tried to declare a blitz before using a teleport pad... my player was lost in space, but maybe he could have blitzed an opponent if he had not disapeared.
And yes, spectator mode was CAP, because of private leagues : no more video bugged software to watch friends play, that's great. For now, there is no limit in the number of spectator, but it could change (300 hundred spectators could be too heavy and cause lags).
