Awarding a win without a score

PostFri Jun 01, 2012 1:59 pm

Twice now I've had this happen, once where it favoured me, and once where it favoured my opponent.

For no apparent reason the game just declares the match over, awards one player the win and both MVPs/winnings.

The "losing" player is not disconnected, there is no timer evident, it just ends the game.

It would almost be tolerable as a bug if it wasn't for both MVPs and winnings being given to the "winner", which means the "loser" walks away with nothing to show for the time they spent. It's even worse when the winner was one turn from scoring

Hi,
Thanks for the report.
this bug has been spotted and a fix is on the way.
Expect a patch next week ( I cannot tell you exactly when for now).

Regards,

Same here - I wonder how things like this can slip through beta-testing unnoticed. Oh wait - I am a pre-order customer, so maybe I am the beta tester...

Glad Im not the only one getting that feeling. We're paying to beta test? is it me or is that just wrong?

1 week before anyone else is a nice offer, but to test it?...sorry but I think those of us that have pre-ordered are getting a raw deal here and I feel that after this 'testing' we should be compensated somehow for our input and bug-hunting...that's what it essentially is? isn;t it?

It's not even been clarified if the next colleges to be added will be free DLC or micro-transaction content? I used to field an Undead team back in the days of yore and was really looking forward to a future DB team with them. If after helping to report bugs, answer players questions, pass on info or even remind my opponents what the current problems are...then I think it's not too much to ask if those of us that have pre-ordered and have to endure all this, that we be compensated somehow in kind.

With all due respect to what is a really good game (yes I must sound like a troll, flaming for trouble...it's not honestly like me tbh...believe what you will), it should not have been released like this and even saying there will be a patch next week to correct issues (hang on...next week-ish, after our pre-order time?) I feel we have been given a raw deal for helping to support the developers by paying up via a pre-order.

I am hoping however that the price I payed (£9.99) will continue, to help draw people in, and not be increased on Steam or even a week from now. If someone had told me this was what I would be getting....I would have waited for Steam tbh where their would probably be achievements (I know...but I like them!) and I could keep it with all my other games.

This post has gone on further than what I had planned tbh...my apologies.

Just for some personal info. I used to play BB down at my local GW in Manchester back in 90-sommit-probably-92-ish lol...back when the high density polystyrene playing areas were made...epic! When DB was released I bought it after saving up, since it sounded hilarious. A few years after that I moved away from TT gaming and havent been back...a shame really...so when I saw DB released (was waiting for BB to come back on offer via Steam...missed it twice!) I had to get it and at a perfectly aimed price I think. I am really enjoying the game, chatting with players who all seem to be from TT gaming, but I really do feel a lot of points players have made need to be addressed, never mind anything I have said which will prob get shot down as flaming or trolling.

I would like to see more info/answers from the devs within the next week to answer the questions posed, as from what I have seen, they are pretty good at listening and responding.

Now...where did I park my Deathroller, Beer needs to be drunk and Cheerleaders impressed

This is why I appreciate people buying a game on pre order. They're always the duped Beta Testers.

So, Thanks and I'll be around when better teams start hitting the game or at least ones that I wanna play.

This out-of-the-blue-win bug really breaks the game. I've been on both sides -- and it is not fun.

Very little point in playing the game until it is fixed.

Very annoying bug... that we partly spotted while testing the game in Cyanide's Studio : my player took the ball from an opponent near my endzone ; but he finished the turn in his (mine) endzone ; and i lost the game... Pmcc was there, he took good note of this bug. I guess that he tried to correct it, and that the correction gave birth to new bugs.

About being beta-tester : yes, we are ! Wasn't it obvious from the start ? I bought the game nevertheless. No regrets so far - i would only be upset if the game-breaking bugs are not fixed soon.

Loukas has already stated that a patch is on it's way, so hopefully that resolves this bug and a couple of others.

Whilst this bug does detract from the enjoyment of the game, and has cost me a couple of sure victories, the game is still fun. What's more, it cost about the same as a ticket to the movies, and I've had more than 2 hours of enjoyment from it.

Back to the bug at hand - I have a theory, but haven't had another chance to test yet. I recall the last loss happened to me when I've used up all my moves for the turn, and the last action was an auto-resolution in my favour. For example, I have moved all players, performed my blitz, and the last action is a block. The block is Defender Down (or stumbles, or both down) and the opposing player is knocked down. This ends the turn, but also seemed to award the win to the opponent.

Can anyone check if this happens for them as well?
