I think if a tree has taken root it still rolls precarious if it takes an action that causes one. So effectively both apply and thus he's out of play on a roll of 1. Being rooted does not save him. The rule for precarious applies without any restriction in the rules

I just checked, but yeah, as you cannot move anymore with "Taken root", you should not fall in a pit anymore, so no roll needed normally.

I can understand your conclusion but I don't think that is the correct one, with respect.

The reason I give is BOTH the precarious roll and the take root state both aply. The player can't move, but falling a precarious dice does not 'move' you. Yes it is implied however you don't move. I would assume shadow does not let you follow someone who fails a precarious dice on a block...

Also for game balance it might be best to favour both situations take place and resolve. Otherwise is tight dungeons I can see trees being too powerfull. Just my thoughts

Juggernout still chancels it out. And as long as the "take-root" roll hasn't rolled a 1 (= the tree hasn't taken root), of course there should be still the precarious position roll. Only after taken root the treeman cant move anymore (and so - can't fall in a pit adjected to the field, where he is stuck).

Talking about balance that is completly another topic. After all you have a Treeman witch is worth about 100+ TV and normaly just stands in the back doing nothing - so - I personally dont think of them being to powerful (compared to the deathroller for example).
