Not really. You won because you had a 13-11 man advantage to begin with and you ran around the dungeon until players started getting warped out. Your DR only took out one player. You didn't even try to score.

Coach Jester wrote:I also humbly and deeply apologize... it is not my intent to trash talk, but i wanted to make a point about the DR and the type of players that defend it... I am very sorry if i have upset you

I would bet most who do defend it play only that team and use same tactics and as such are bias to the argument

yes i have a team (well 2 i think) with DR but i also play the others

if i only played rainbow i too would be bias and one eyed to have DR removed
but i don't

all i ask is please try the other teams (rainbow) and then tell us what you think

I appreciate the apology. No big deal. As far as Rainbow is concerned, I've already gone into great detail on this. Yes, they are at a significant disadvantage, but that's not the fault of the DR. It's because they have universally low AV, very limited access to Strength skills, and because their mobility is negated in a dungeon.

let me ask this... would you be ok with..
bone head taken off ogres?
wild animal taken off mino's
take root taken off Trees?
really stupid taken off trolls?

if you answer yes to all the above the yep sure DR not need a bone head then
if you answer no then i dont see your logic to give one no penalty but all the others do

DR is the ONLY one that is never caught out of position dew to rolling a 1 before move and that is just wrong and unbalanced

The Deathroller is problematic, because it breaks the boundaries of the the pricing formula in the game. Being the most expensive (tied with Rat Ogre) and strongest (tied with Fanatic) player as well, it becomes a huge problem. It is not some random piece, it is a piece that dominates the field. Sure, you can win against a Deathroller. The game is heavily dice-dependent and dependent on coach-skill. But all things being equal, the Deathroller simply falls in a category that is decisive for a game. It is is not "fair", in that is is not being priced "fair". It is severely undercosted and has a great synergy between skills that are perfect for the DB setting. I just played a game with Morgon, on Outreach, where we just stalled because of the Deathrollers. Neither of us could advance over the narrow bridge. Had it not been for stalling for 30 turns being so boring, that both me and Morgon decided to start blitzing with the deathrollers, the game would simply have been about whose deathroller was warped out first. Mine fell into the lave on PP roll, which let to an almost instant win for Morgon. Nothing I could do once my own deathroller was out.

Poor rosters that don't have a deathroller of their own, or the agility to avoid it. Orcs I predict can do very little against it.

Compare the Deathroller to the Ogre. The latter a good piece, that follows the costing formula for the game.

DR II Ogre
+2 ST II +1 MA
+1 AV II +1 AG
No Bonehead II No No Hands
Break Tackle II Thick Skull
Dirty Player II Throw Team-mate
Juggernaut
Stand Firm

That is what you get from 20 TV.
Bonehead is much worse than No Hands. Throw team-mate has maginal use, at best. It is simply too crazy, how much better the Deathroller is. It completely breaks the pricing formula. The Deathroller should cost at least 200 K in TV. More so, because it is the strongest piece in the game, a tank most teams have just about zero counter against. It breaks what is fair, the boundaries of the game, when Secret Weapon have no impact on the game. That is what is problematic with the Deathroller, and it is problematic. Btw Nasty, I find it comical that you exploit the DR. Makes it kind of easy saying, that it is all fine and priced right, right?

just to copy this from a post i put up.

deathroller does not get much better after gaining skills remeber. At 5 skills I bet its 260 of the same! At least big guys can get some other skills.

I really dont think its broken. I do however think some of the lists are better than others. That is a probelm with mixed races. In the end the best list will be played most often and no variety in teams will happen. But thats ok as then its back down to positioning skill and luck. yay :)

So honestly dont get too worried about it. When the undead list comes and probably destroys all then you wont be so bothered by the deathroller.

The other minor issue with it, is the roller plays with dwarfs. Once people leanr to defend then dwarfs are a very good mixture for the race of players on the pitch. :dwarf: :dwarf: :dwarf:

Some of the more subtle aspects of the game are lost in dungey and thats part of the fun. That is also why 11x block and some foulers are a farily good idea in dungey. ergo the deathroller is just one part of the overall, and you should not forget that.

please dont worry about it. Gobos are going to be more fun and plenty of sides will have access to good secret weapons. Chainsaw is going to ROCK your world >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

For me it boils down to the fact the if the only real way to counter a model is with that same model, then it is broken (this is my opinion, yes yours may vary). There is no penalty on the DR. Cyanide said they were looking into the issue, so hopefully they still are. GW did let them change the team roster for Bright College, so hopefully there is a possibility of altering something here. Even just upping the cost if thats all they let them do (it is far more advantageous in DB than BB - so it makes sense that it cost more) would at least be something.

Has anyone from Cyanide spoken up on this issue again? This really seems to be the one big niggling issue with DB right now.

The deathroller really isn't *the* big niggling issue with dungeonbowl. *The* big niggling issue with dungeonbowl is that the rules to allow all players to leap obstacles (and pits) haven't been implemented yet - which is one of the things which makes wardancers *so* good in the current game.

And the bomber - don't forget the bomber!

Oh, and the pogoer is very handy too!

I was able to Leap obstacles in hot seat mode when I was testing things out. Not sure about pits though.

And while there are bugs and other issues to fix too ,the DR is still a big contention with a lot of players right now. At least give us some leagues like BB so we can make a 'No DR' league :)

With players who didn't have the leap skill?

The DR is a big contention for a very vocal section of the coaches playing DB. I'm dubious that that is the same as it being a big contention for a *lot* of the current coaches. I, for one, welcome my opponent taking as many big guys as possible, including the death roller, because I find my wardancers can out maneuver them very easily ;)
